Full Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, highly motivated & resilient midwife who possess excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills. The successful applicant will be able to manage, lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team whilst demonstrating high levels of professionalism at all times, acting as an exemplary role model with enhanced levels of clinical knowledge and expertise.

  • Lead the 24 hour provision of high quality women centred care for intrapartum services.
  • Act as an expert resource and role model for the team within their service to support them in the delivery of effective care.
  • Be responsible for ensuring a good environment in which all women and families receive a high standard of care which is compassionate and takes account of their individual needs and wishes.
  • Demonstrate clinical leadership in the management of both low and high risk complex maternity care.
  • Identify and facilitate strategies for service improvement, develop initiatives and organisational change, contributing to the clinical governance and risk management agenda by ensuring best practice is evident.
  • Implement and follow HR policies regarding workforce management.
  • Be responsible for ensuring safe deployment of resources to meet and comply with professional midwifery standards, governance, quality and patient safety within the budget set, Take overall responsibility for the management of Labour Suite, Triage and Day Assessment unit. Providing guidance as a role model to others and using their expertise to make judgements and support the rest of the team, including other areas of the service such as the antenatal and postnatal wards and community.
  • An active role supporting QRS agenda and implementation of the maternity improvement plan. The post holder will have line management responsibilities and will be part of a wider team of matrons.
