Full Job Description
Do you have a passion to work with Young People? Are you a dynamic worker who wants to make a difference in young peoples lives? Do you want an employer who will support you to have the career that is right for you?
If this is you - then Newcastle City Council is the place for you!
At Newcastle city council, we are committed to supporting young people who go missing by offering compassionate, responsive, and reliable support. Our goal is to help them feel safe, heard, and empowered while understanding and addressing the reasons behind their missing episodes. We work in close collaboration with local authorities, schools, families, and other support services to provide a coordinated, holistic approach to safeguarding and improving the lives of vulnerable young people
As a Missing Person Support Worker, you will play a critical role in supporting young people who have been missing and have now returned home. You will carry out Return Home Interviews (RHIs), providing young people with a safe space to express their concerns, identifying the factors that contributed to their going missing, and helping connect them with services that can support their well-being and safety. You will work with empathy, sensitivity, and confidentiality, focusing on building trust and ensuring young people's voices are central in planning any further support they may need.
We are looking for a compassionate, resilient individual who is passionate about making a difference in young people's lives. Ideally, you will have experience working with vulnerable young people, an understanding of safeguarding practices, and strong communication skills.
We offer an induction to all employees and a comprehensive range of training. We are committed to our staff receiving the opportunities they need to develop and flourish at all stages of their career.
You will receive;
A dedicated 5 day induction
A generous Flexi Scheme
Generous annual leave in addition to bank Holidays with the ability to buy additional leave annually.
A range of flexible working options
Access to wellbeing initiatives
Access to a generous, defined benefit pension scheme
Access to home electronics and car leasing scheme
Generous relocation package
