Full Job Description

A great opportunity to be part of our Engineering and Technical Services team, as a Modelling Manager you will be the lead for Southern Water's technical direction in the hydraulic modelling group through the development of technical strategies, policies and standards, advice and delivery support provided to the organisation and the supply chain. You will also be responsible for line management of the modelling team of Principal, Senior and Modeller in both Water and Wastewater networks with close coordination with Technical Governance and Network PDM functions and is accountable for the consistency, quality and completeness of our model content. A niche opportunity to join the business aiming at sewage spill reduction in 5 to 10 years, you will be part of a critical business function managing 12 internal staff with the team split into Wastewater and clear Water modelling. Your key accountabilities will be driving the efficiency and quality into modelling through project technical
leadership, modelling optimisation and verification. Active participation in all phases of the Risk and Value sessions or appointing a suitable representation of the modelling group is important for this role. As part of coordinating with programme steering group on all planning, budgeting and quality requirements, you will also set up monthly team meetings with members of team and promote technical discussions among team members through presentations and workshops that may also include presentations from new technology providers. Other accountabilities would also include: - Supporting the development of QA/QC procedures for modelling deliverables and establish interface with other engineering teams through PDL led design review meetings - Making decisions and recommendations that are recognised as authoritative through a 'sign off' mechanism set out in design QA/QC procedures - Mapping capabilities and skills against core requirements of the team including assessment of SSP and
Delivery Partners resources - Identifying company-wide operational costs saving mechanisms through collaboration across groups and teams - Actively participate or provide modelling representation in scope activities and provide support to operations staff during network critical activities including appropriate coordination during red and amber incidents - Establish and chairing cross business technical groups to resolve issues, provide technical policies and maintain technical standards
