Full Job Description

We're working with an engineering organisation who deliver modelling, simulation, and wargaming support to government agencies in the UK. Due to continued investment in this capability our client seeks a Modelling & Simulation Engineer. You're likely to be a software engineer with experience, or an interest within, defence modelling, simulation and wargaming.

Please note we're hiring at different levels within Modelling & Simulation Engineering (from entry to experienced hires) for this client. Our client is not able to offer sponsorship for these opportunities.

The Successful Candidate Will

You will be involved across a wide range of Simulation and Wargaming projects with opportunity to use your knowledge and skills to help build an intelligent client capability where you will support customers to utilise the full capabilities of their simulation systems. You can expect your responsibilities to include:

  • You will be an integral part of a specialised team which leads and supports Modelling & Simulation activities for defence clients in the UK.


  • You'll support clients with problem solving, delivering new capabilities, and provision of systems engineering support.


  • Involvement throughout the programme activity lifecycle including R&D, development and assessment of concepts, requirements engineering, capability development, test and evaluation and acceptance management.


  • Develop, maintain, and improve Digital Twins and Architecture models.

    You might already be within defence or may be in the gaming industry and looking for a move into the defence industry. You'll need to be able to demonstrate:


  • Experience using, or an understanding of, COTS simulation, gaming products or specialist simulation tools.


  • Knowledge and experience of designing and supporting the accreditation of MOD secure systems. Preferably simulation systems to JSP604, JSP440 and Secure by Design standard. Your experience of products could include VR Forces, VBS2/3/4, MS Flight Sim, Prepar3d, Unity, Unreal, Xplane, FlightGear.


  • An understanding of the fundamentals of computer and networking architectures.


  • Programming languages and scripting (for example C++, C#, Java, Python).


  • Engineering, Science, or digitally-focussed STEM-based education and or career.


  • An inquisitive approach, and an ability to operate with a high level of autonomy.


  • This position will require existing security clearance, or the ability to obtain such clearance.
