Full Job Description

Meet Naomi
Naomi was involved in a road traffic accident in 2020 when she sustained extensive orthopaedic injuries at the time of the incident and a traumatic brain injury. She lives at home with her partner, 2 children born in 2018 and 2020, her guide dog, pet dog and two cats.

Naomi requires someone to assist and guide her with meeting her children's needs and provide care and support for her children as required. This will include assisting with identified tasks to ensure the smooth running of the therapy programme and supporting her.

You will be required to drive Naomi and the children to and from school in your own vehicle, enabling Naomi to complete the school runs. On occasion you may be required to complete these journeys without Naomi. You will also participate in social and extracurricular activities in the Harpenden area (around 3.5 miles away from the home setting) by supporting Naomi. You will be required to drive the children to and from this area as our client is prevented from driving due to the injuries sustained.

The role will also be to assist with domestic chores related to the children, such as helping Naomi to plan and make the children's meals, plan activities, clear up following kitchen tasks, tidying and supporting with domestic chores.

It is essential that our client is supported to be confident in providing all aspects of childcare to her children.

Pay and Benefits:

  • £16.50 p/h

  • 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata

  • On-going support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR department, Our Case Managers work closely with our Clients, and we carry out all the recruitment processes on behalf of our Clients; and will support you, from your initial telephone interview right through to arranging employer interviews, trial shifts and placement.


  • If you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection. However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role. Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.

    Driving Clients Car? No, but you will be required to drive our client and her children in your own car
    Using Own Vehicle for work purposes? Yes, On duty and to attend trainings
    Essential Experience: Experience of working with children
    Desirable: Experience of orthopaedic injury and brain injury,
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK;

  • Satisfactory references, including your last employer;

  • An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate. A conviction will not necessarily prevent you from being employed.


  • About You

    It would be great to receive your application, if you have the following skills/behaviours:
  • Able to use specialist equipment. A Handling Management Plan designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries may require you to bend, kneel, squat or lunge to ensure good posture during handling tasks.

  • Experience of working with primary / junior school age children

  • Experience/understanding of mental health issues.

  • Confident about working in client's own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of the parents.

  • Comfortable to be around animals, (as our client has two dogs and two cats within the home).

  • Full clean driving license and able to drive the clients vehicle.
