Full Job Description

We have an amazing new opportunity for an experienced mental health practitioner with a professional background as a clinical psychologist, mental health nurse, social worker or occupational therapist to work as an Approved and Responsible Clinician in Adult Mental Health Acute Inpatient Services at Highbury Hospital in Nottingham.

The service has a track record of developing Multi-Professional Approved Clinicians to work in acute, community and rehabilitation settings. The role is established and respected in the service. You will be part of a peer group of established MPACs and we currently have three trainees working under supervision and plan to recruit additional trainees in 2025. We support participation in local and regional peer groups.

You will be required to act as Responsible Clinician for a caseload across two inpatient wards. The MDT on each ward includes nurses, consultant psychiatrists, occupational therapists, and psychologists who value the knowledge, skills and experiences their MPAC colleagues bring to the team.

This is a rare opportunity to join a service that is engaged in substantial work to improve the experience and safety of patients. We are committed to improving the quality of our care and outcomes for patients. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in service improvement as a senior clinical leader., Applicants are expected to have been working at a consultant / senior level for their profession and be able to demonstrate significant post-qualification experience that enables them to work autonomously, make independent decisions with complex cases, and evidence successful MDT working and effective leadership and service development. They will be registered as an Approved Clinician. Applicants with the necessary experience who have submitted their portfolio to their local Regional Approvals Panel will be considered for appointment on a fixed-term training contract at Band 8c until approval is obtained.
