Full Job Description
This is an enjoyable and rewarding position for someone who is caring and dedicated to making a difference to the lives of children and their families. This is a countywide service, and we welcome applicants from across Devon. The Multi-Sensory Impairment Service are seeking a flexible and enthusiastic individual who has a passion for working with children. We work directly with children and young people who have a dual sensory loss and have had a deafblind assessment as requiring one to one support. Our support covers three main areas:
- Orientation and mobility
- Communication
- Learning and development We are looking to recruit to our team to provide support for children and young people both in their education setting and in a social capacity, supporting them to access to a wide range of activities. As a service we aim to provide consistency for the young people we support and work closely with other professionals to provide this. We cover a variety of sessions including; school day, evenings, weekends and school holidays. The role of an MSW will include supporting our children and young people in all aspects of daily living. Many of our Children and young people have additional needs beyond their deafblind status and a caring nature, respecting the privacy and dignity while delivering personal care and medication is essential. We support in both mainstream and specialist schools for education. The children and young people you support may be based in various locations across the county, so we welcome applications from candidates throughout Devon. We will aim to keep travel to a minimum for you.

- You should have a willingness to work towards additional qualifications such as Makaton and British Sign Language.
- Please note that the ability to drive with access to your own vehicle and a valid UK driving licence is essential to the role.

The salary range for this role is £24,702 to £26,421 per annum (pro rata) (£12.80 - £13.69 per hour). Attracting enhanced rates of pay for weekend working. Saturdays at £19.20 to £20.54 per hour. Sundays and Bank Holidays at £25.60 to £27.38 per hour. We are always interested in people who have current relevant qualifications such as British Sign Language however, we will support you in your on-going development within the role, providing comprehensive training with a child centred approach.
