Full Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Multi-Skilled Maintenance to join our team at The Laurels Care Home. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for our residents and staff. Your expertise in multiple trades will be invaluable in maintaining the integrity of our care home facilities.,
- General Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of the facility to identify and address issues proactively.
- Plumbing: Perform minor plumbing repairs and maintenance, including fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and maintaining water systems.
- Electrical: Assist with basic electrical repairs, such as replacing light fixtures, outlets, and switches while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Carpentry: Repair and maintain wooden structures, including furniture, doors, and cabinets. Perform installations as needed.
- Tiling: Undertake tiling projects in resident areas and common spaces, ensuring high-quality workmanship and aesthetics.
- Painting and Decorating: Carry out painting and decorating tasks to maintain the appearance of the care home.
- Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies to minimize disruption to residents and staff.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of tools and supplies, ensuring that necessary materials are available for maintenance tasks.
- Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance work complies with health and safety regulations, as well as care home policies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with care home staff and management to coordinate maintenance activities and address specific needs.
Proven experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a care home or similar setting.

- Strong skills in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and tiling.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to maintenance work.
- Ability to use hand and power tools effectively and safely.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with residents and staff.
- Relevant certifications in plumbing, electrical, or carpentry are a plus.
