Full Job Description

Working as part of our skilled Facilities team, the Multiskilled Mechanical Operative will provide Semi-skilled knowledgeable support for the PPM Engineer in terms of minor mechanical/maintenance tasks on Plumbing, Heating and Ventilation System. Whilst assisting the wider team members with general maintenance tasks and duties as required. Legionella checks will be a core part of this role. As a Multiskilled Mechanical Operative, you will:

  • Provide semi-skilled support and assistance within the Mechanical team on general maintenance tasks, site checks (including legionella), minor projects and general daily duties as required.
  • Maintain a due diligence in terms of your own personal Health & Safety and for those around you
  • Maintain the standards of the team and strive to improve within your capability.
  • Work to achieve personal targets and make efficient use of time and material resources.
  • Be part of the team and contribute proactively within your capabilities.

    Basic knowledge of mechanical systems
  • Basic plumbing/drainage knowledge
  • Knowledge of legionella in hot and cold water systems.
  • Ability to solve problems and adhere to H&S guidelines
  • Enthusiastic, Self-motivated, resourceful, flexible and a willingness to learn and develop withing the team
  • Capable of working as part of a team or on their own
  • Be courteous and respectful within a busy, public facing organisation
  • Good communication skills

    The Package
  • Hours of work are 40 per week, working predominantly 07:30 - 16:10, Monday to Friday as well as rostered weekends. There may also a requirement to work weekends on occasion to support the operations of the zoo.
  • Salary of £28,898.96 per annum (pro-rata)
