Multi Skilled Shift Assistant

To provide Comprehensive and quality service in line with quality standards to all wards and departments, working with others as part of a multi-skilled team assisting trade persons if and when necessary. Also responsible for assisting in the day to day maintenance of the whole of the site. What you'll do: To understand unsupervised routine maintenance and minor repair work that does not justify attention of a fully qualified craftsperson, related to their training and/or experience. Using a range of hand tools to undertake a wide range of minor maintenance and repairs tasks including:

• Assist the trades
• Re washering tap, minor repairs to leaks, cleaning of traps and waste pipes,
• Unblocking sinks, toilets, showers and drain,
• Replacing of lamps and tubes
• Cleaning on light fittings and lamp shades
• Repairs to door handles
• Oiling and greasing
• Cleaning of plantrooms and workshops
• Assist following emergencies
• Fault finding and reporting to the appropriate trade
• Provide and receive routine information to assist in undertaking their own job
• Exchange information with own colleagues and provide information about jobs
• Demonstrate duties to new starters
• Carry the bleep
• Undertake patch plastering
• Follow hospital policies in their own role
• Make judgement involving straight forward job related facts or situations
• Movement of materials, equipment and work related waste
• Carry out necessary training for their role
• Attend Fire calls
• Attend lift trappings
• Carry out lift inspection PPMs
• Empty buckets when roof leaks occur
• Carry out ad hoc PPMs if put in place due to safety concerns
  
  A full, clean driving licence
• Previous appropriate working experience or training in skill development, including the safe use of tools and equipment.
• able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of workshop safety practices
• Must be able to work effectively with the minimum of supervision
• Good communication skills and the ability to deal with the exposure to emotional conditions
Desirable
• Understand fully the inter-relationships between the various maintenance crafts
• Knowledge of other Trades e.g. plumbing, electrical and joinery
• Engineering and/or building maintenance experience.
