Gateway Housing has been supporting communities to thrive since 1926. We are an ambitious London based housing association with over 3,000 homes in the heart of London's East End. We provide social rented homes, shared ownership, and sheltered housing. We develop new homes too and are part way through an exciting programme to deliver another 250 homes by 2025. We are looking for an experienced Multi Trader in to be a part of a multi-disciplined works team within the housing repair's function. You will deliver an effective, high quality and cost- effective repairs service within the DLO parameters whilst always ensuring health and safety compliance and best practice.

Your duties and key skills will include but not be limited to:

  • To work independently or as part of a team to carry out Carpentry, basic Plumbing, tiling, decorating, patch plastering, groundworks and any other minor repairs ensuring Customer satisfaction is always achieved.

  • Undertake reasonable associated duties as agreed in the flexible working agreement in order to contribute to the DLO repair "first time fix" objective.

  • Plan and organise your work in an economical and effective manor, making the best use of your available time, plant, transport and materials in accordance with specified company priority response times

  • Use a company issued PDA where provided to carry out the job role e.g. receiving instruction's, accurately completing works orders, general communications and logging all materials used

  • To be aware of his/her responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act and ensure safe working systems and procedures are adopted at all times including the wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment

  • If issued with a company van, ensuring that it is driven in accordance with Gateway's safe driving policy. Also to ensure that it is kept clean and in good tidy condition and carrying out weekly maintenance tasks such as checking oil and water levels and tyre condition and pressures, Simply Health - help towards the costs of dentist, optician, and private medical appointments.

  • Employee Assistance Programme - including free legal, financial and counselling advice.

  • Pension - up to 10% employer contribution.

    A recognised trade qualification (NVQ Level 2) either through apprenticeship or training programme and also cross trade flexibility with at least one other trade.

  • Current full driving licence.

  • Experience of carrying out a wide range work across the building trades to a good, professional and workmanlike standard.

  • Ability to plan and organise own workload in the most effective, efficient and economic way in accordance with laid down priorities.

  • Good awareness of health and safety at work, including risk assessment, the need to follow safe working procedures and willing and able to wear and/or use appropriate personal protective equipment.

  • Be physically fit, capable of lifting 25 kg and carrying and operating a range of hand and power tools.
