Full Job Description

Duties: The Music Composer will be responsible for composing, arranging, and producing
original music, particularly for Afrobeat, Amapiano, and related African genres. Their work will be
tailored to specific projects and artist collaborations. Additionally, the role involves scoring and
arranging music for visual media, ensuring synchronisation with films, television shows, and other
digital content. The composer will lead recording sessions, directing musicians, vocalists, and
sound engineers to bring the compositions to life. They will also need to revise and adapt
compositions based on feedback from artists, producers, and clients. Staying updated on the
latest trends in music and technological advancements is crucial to ensure that the compositions

Skill: The ideal candidate should possess a high level of proficiency in music theory, composition,
and arrangement, with a strong understanding of Afrobeat and Amapiano rhythms,
instrumentation, and song structures. The ability to play one or more musical instruments,
especially those rooted in African traditions, is required. Familiarity with digital audio workstations
(DAWs) such as Logic Pro, FL Studio, or Pro Tools is essential for producing high-quality
recordings. The candidate must have an excellent ear for sound quality, melodies, and tonal
structures, particularly within Afrobeat. Additionally, strong collaboration skills are needed to work
effectively with producers, directors, and artists, ensuring a cohesive sound.
Qualification: While no formal qualifications are required for this role, the candidate must present
a strong showreel that demonstrates their ability to compose original music, particularly within the
Afrobeat and Amapiano genres. The ability to create compelling, culturally authentic compositions
is essential to success in this position.
Experience: The candidate should have proven experience composing music for various media
platforms, including films, digital content, or music albums. Prior experience working with Afrobeat
and Amapiano artists in studio settings is crucial, as is flexibility with working hours to accommodate the demands of recording sessions and collaborations.
