Full Job Description

We offer an extensive curriculum to our students and currently require an enthusiastic and committed music teacher. You will have a flexible, creative and practical approach to learning and be responsible for developing individualised / small group programs. Class sizes are small, between 6 and 8 students with dedicated TA support. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

We are ideally looking for someone to work 2 days per week (Thursday & Friday), teaching to Key Stage 3 and also teaching piano and other instruments in individual sessions.

An understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition and/or experience of working with children with additional needs is an advantage, however training can be given. Previous teaching experience is preferred, but is not essential and applications from newly qualified teachers are welcome.

We are an independent special secondary school based just outside Andover, Hampshire. Grateley House School is a highly successful 38- week residential special school for young people (age11-19) with a diagnosis of Autism. We are rated as good in both education and care by Ofsted.

The school is currently made up of 31 students and is set to grow over the next three years. The school follows the National Curriculum and we support students to gain outcomes equivalent to mainstream.
