Full Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Music across Key Stages 3 and 4. Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging and innovative lessons that meet the requirements of the national curriculum and foster students' musicality, creativity, and appreciation for diverse musical genres and traditions.
- Creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, performance, and the development of musical skills in areas such as singing, instrumental playing, music theory, and composition.
- Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and implementing differentiated learning strategies to cater to diverse learning needs and musical abilities.
- Leading and directing musical ensembles, such as choirs and instrumental groups, providing students with opportunities to perform and develop their musical talents.
- Collaborating with colleagues within the Performing Arts department to develop and enhance the curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to the school's musical culture through concerts and performances.
A vibrant secondary school in the lively borough of Sutton is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspiring Music Teacher to join their thriving Performing Arts department. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in January 2025., A degree in Music or a related field. - Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- A strong understanding of the KS3 and KS4 Music curriculum.
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for music education.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Experience teaching a range of musical instruments and/or vocal techniques.
