Full Job Description

TROX UK Ltd is looking for a multi-skilled maintenance engineer to join our Maintenance Team. The successful applicant will need to maintain machinery and equipment and facilitate with the resolution of breakdowns within the factory and to identify and execute projects to continuously improve productivity.

The successful candidate will be required to install and commission new plant equipment, including all necessary services and utilities, facilitate in the decommissioning, removal and relocation of plant and equipment including associated services / utilities. You will provide root cause analysis of downtime and implement corrective actions to improve reliability as well as facilitate with the development and improvement of production equipment and factory infrastructure to improve reliability, productivity and quality. You will also source and purchase parts and components and materials as required within the scope of your authority and ensure the health and safety of all employees in the work area and to continually improve safety standards, housekeeping and work processes, engaging and leading 5S initiatives as required.

  • Recognised NVQ / Apprenticeship / HNC / HND (Or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering discipline coupled with Mechanical and Electrical skills/experience gained in an Engineering role (Engineering Technician, Maintenance Engineer, etc).

  • City and Guilds Electrical Installation or equivalent.

  • City and Guilds 2394 Inspection and Testing.

  • Latest Edition Wiring Regulations Certificate.

  • A sound understanding / awareness of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations and approved codes of practice. Any relevant qualifications (IOSH, NEBOSH, etc) would be beneficial.

  • Certification in other relevant areas - Abrasive wheels, fork lift truck, MEWP, etc.

  • A thorough understanding and the ability to work from technical manuals, drawings and electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic circuit diagrams.

  • Able to develop good working relationships with other team members and our customers, share knowledge and mentor those with less experience

  • Experience with machine HMI`s, PLC`s and diagnostics.

  • Experienced and adept in the selection, use and maintenance of PPE and safe systems of work.

  • Numerate and PC literate with experience of working with computerised maintenance management systems and common Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).


  • KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with common factory processes and techniques including sheet metal punching and joining.

  • Fabrication, welding and machining skills i.e., lathe, milling machine

  • Good all-round engineering knowledge including mechanical, electrical, sheet metal, press work, civils, facilities, electro-mechanical assembly, etc.

  • Able to fault find electrical and mechanical systems

  • Working knowledge of Statutory and Regulatory compliance relating to the safe maintenance and operation of both factory and facilities plant and equipment (Electrical, ATEX, DSEAR, LOLER, PUWER, HSE, CDM, etc)

  • An eye for detail, methodical and analytical with strong problem-solving capabilities and a practical approach

  • An excellent communicator with first class people skills

  • Demonstratable organisation skills coupled with the ability to plan and prioritise

  • Ability to work safely, unsupervised whilst adhering to safe systems of work.
