Full Job Description

As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats. A fantastic brand new role has arisen for a National Clinical Excellence & Therapy Development Manager, UK & Ireland, CRM , reporting to the General Manager. In this leadership role you will provide 1st (and 2nd) line management to a team of clinical and education professionals, be accountable for the delivery of clinical excellence in implantation of Abbott CRM devices as well as supporting therapy development and you will also play a significant role on the CRM Leadership team. What you'll do:

  • Contribute to building and leading a high performance organization to deliver plans by selecting, training and developing the team, including all formal HR related activities.
  • Ensure that the Clinical Specialist Managers deliver aligned activity with the regional sales plans and that the team are performing to agreed standards.
  • Deliver Clinical Excellence effectiveness, ensuring relevant clinical deployments are planned for each region, aligned to sales deployment, and actively coaching the clinical specialist managers and wider team. Contributes to joint clinical visits, focusing on pre-agreed objectives and in=intervenes when necessary to address any non-compliance or underperformance and provides support and feedback as necessary.
  • Continuously update knowledge of the CRM market and emerging trends and document market information related to the CRM market potential, growth rates, market shares and relevant competitive information and identify opportunities to grow market size/share through clinical excellence or therapy development.
  • Objectively assesses capabilities of the CRM organization and identifies potential for development in terms of competitive advantage, market coverage, brand image and cost structure.
  • Support the Therapy Development vision and strategy, delivering market growth in Conduction System Pacing and Leadless Pacing in line with the market expansion plan, by developing clear tactical plans as well as tracking and reporting.
  • Build strong relationships with external decision influencers, including with local Key Opinion Leaders (KOL's) to encourage their continuous input on conventional therapies and technologies, emerging technologies and patient requirements as well as monitoring activities and plans of Government Health Care institutions, industry associations, medical/scientific societies etc.
  • Specify the overall organizational design and headcount required to achieve strategic and operating goals in the light of local business conditions and forecasts, adapts as circumstances require and identifies training needs.
  • Regularly re-evaluates performance against forecasts and budgets and takes timely action to meet agreed targets.
  • Operate in an ethical and disciplined way, advocates for self-development and encourages coaching and feedback from the General Manager and broader leadership.
  • Work in close liaison with country teams to ensure operational integrity and compliance with all internal/external policies.

    A Degree in life science or equivalent
  • Medical sales experience in an appropriate area is required and marketing experience is a strong preference
  • To demonstrate strong leadership qualities - ideally with prior experience of first line leadership in a relevant industry
  • Market expansion or therapy development experience is a preference
  • Strong communication skills
  • To be results orientated, a strategic thinker and problem solver
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Good negotiation skills
