Full Job Description

The Treasurer is a key member of the Board of Trustees and plays a critical role in overseeing the financial affairs of the charity. The Treasurer will ensure financial stability, compliance, and integrity, supporting the charity's mission through sound financial management and reporting.,

  • Financial Oversight: Monitor the charity's financial health and ensure financial stability. Oversee the management of the charity's bank accounts and investment portfolio.
  • Budgeting and Planning: Work with the Chief Executive on the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budget and provide regular updates to the Board.
  • Financial Reporting: Work with Chief Executive to prepare and present financial reports to the Board of Trustees and relevant stakeholders. Ensure timely and accurate filing of annual accounts, tax returns, and other statutory financial reports.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and laws. Consult with external auditors and oversee the audit process. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Fundraising and Resource Management: Support fundraising activities by providing financial insights and analysis., Approximately 10-15 hours per month. Attendance at four Board meetings a year (mainly conducted via Zoom) and the Annual General Meeting (AGM)., This volunteer job description is a guideline to the duties and responsibilities of the Treasurer and is not intended to be all-inclusive. Other tasks may be assigned as necessary.

    Essential: Strong knowledge of financial regulations and best practices. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. High level of integrity and commitment to transparency.
  • Desirable: Experience working with non-profit organizations or charities. Knowledge of fundraising and grant management. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Professional accounting qualification is a plus.
