Full Job Description

  • Ensure localisation is integral to the mobile and web product roadmap to maximise content discovery and drive consumption of Nations' services across all platforms.
  • Establish a robust pipeline of tests to enhance agility and accelerate the pace of delivery through a test-and-learn approach. Own the Nations plan for new capabilities to maximise the product experiences for audiences and drive consistency of approach in delivery models.
  • Oversee the delivery plan, communications, and performance standards of Metadata and Publishing Tools in Nations. Represent Nations on the pan-BBC working/steering groups.
  • Ensure the right reporting is in place to track performance of key digital metrics (e.g., weekly active accounts) and set the right targets to achieve them. Improve data-driven decision-making by utilising analytics and insights to better understand audience behaviours.
  • Lead and coordinate Nations' input into BBC AI development processes and projects.
  • Drive operational efficiency through the adoption and integration of simplified digital tools and practices, ensuring streamlined processes and enhanced performance, leading to a superior audience experience.

    Ability to understand and prioritise the needs of the product's users - either audience members, editorial, or development teams.
  • Innovative and keeps up to date with the latest product development trends.
  • Able to build consensus across different services and products and to mediate between teams to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Adept at managing numerous, diverse senior and executive-level stakeholders, often operating under tight timescales and managing numerous competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively manage and plan messaging to ensure that key requirements and developments are understood by teams across the division.
  • Able to foster a learning culture and build an environment which supports the continuous improvement of team's working practices.
  • Excellent understanding of the lifecycle of product development and able to lead, plan, and implement in each phase.
  • Understanding of how to optimise the delivery flow of teams and shape teams to enable delivery; ability to address risks, issues, and dependencies, as well as identifying innovative ways to unblock issues.
  • Possesses financial acumen, ability to negotiate, influence, and set budgets, report on return on investment, and write and present business cases identifying business value for senior stakeholders.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of the media sector and BBC competitors, and relevant in-depth knowledge of current industry trends and issues relating to their functional area.

Working closely with senior editorial and product stakeholders, you'll help shape and deliver the BBC's Nations growth ambitions, ensuring our strategies are executed flawlessly and our working practices are efficient and agile. You'll collaborate with the News, Content, and Sport divisions, driving alignment across the BBC Group, to make sure new product developments are seamlessly adopted and utilised. As a subject matter expert, you'll provide invaluable advice on skills, workflows, curatorial practices and metadata improvements to boost audience growth online., The location of this role is flexible, but there will be significant time spent in London with regular travel required to other BBC offices in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
