Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced neonatal nurse to join the Continuing Care Team at Jessop wing Neonatal Unit, based mainly within our Neonatal Follow up clinic providing continuing care for babies and their families who return to clinics. You will also support the Community team where needed.
Based in the Neonatal Clinic and the families home setting you will provide nursing care and advice regarding the ongoing care of babies who have been cared for within the Neonatal Service.
Main duties of the job
To provide safe and effective care to babies born before 34 weeks gestation, babies who have spent more than 21 days in hospital on the Neonatal Unit, babies who are less than 2 kg at discharge and babies who have been discharged from neonatal Care.
The post holder will be part of a dedicated, professional team, providing safe and effective care to babies and their families within neonatal follow up clinic and home environment.
The post holder will provide on going care and advice to babies and families who have a variety of specialist needs, from complications caused by prematurity, babies with complex care needs.
The nurse will support families returning for follow up appointments and vaccinations.
The post holder will carry out blood sampling and assist with consumables and medications in the patient's home and clinic.
The post holder will have use of their own car and ensure insurance which covers business use and have no more than 3 penalty points (mileage is paid via E-expenses when registered and paid and claimed monthly).

The Directorate of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatology is based at the Jessop Wing which is linked to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. The maternity unit has over 6800 births per year and is a Regional Tertiary Maternity Service with a Level 3 Neonatal Unit of 44 cots. A tertiary Gynae-Oncology service and a changing Gynaecology Service, which includes an Assisted Conception Unit, complete the services within the Directorate.
