Full Job Description
The post holder will report to and support the Named Midwife , for Safeguarding at Jessop Wing and act as a conduit between staff and external agencies and stakeholders involved in Safeguarding Children and Child Protection. The Safeguarding Neonatal Nurse will be a visible and credible individual within the Jessop Wing, sharing specialist knowledge, and advice to staff in the clinical environment. Main duties of the job To provide care co-ordination for vulnerable mothers and their families To provide safe and effective neonatal care To maintain a high standard of contemporaneous documentation To plan allocate and supervise the work of a team Maintains clinical competence in neonatal care. Support the named midwife in ensuring the highest standard and quality of midwifery care is delivered To ensure that local safeguarding procedures are adhered to and specialist plans are in place To support and offer specialist advice to staff caring for vulnerable women and their babies. We are looking to recruit an inspirational and highly motivated Nurse. The successful candidate will demonstrate Safeguarding knowledge within the remit of Neonatal services. A Think Family approach is essential., - Registered nurse (valid with NMC).
- Advanced Diploma Nursing Studies or equivalent qualification
- Qualified in Neonatal Speciality (QIS)
- To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998 or equivalent., RSCN / child branch
- R23 or equivalent (enhancing neonatal practice) held or working towards first level degree, enhanced skills
- Leadership course or similar
- Professional Nurse advocate course, willingness to complete this or similar Experience Essential criteria
- Evidence of management and leadership qualities
- Significant experience in neonatal Intensive care at staff nurse or sister / charge nurse level post neonatal qualification
- Significant post QIS experience Desirable criteria Management experience,
- Current Newborn Life Support
- Experience of safeguarding Neonatal families and babies, Management Qualification, Professional Nurse Advocate, Effective communicator, leadership skills, ability to participate in education of others assertiveness, role model
- Able to work as a lone worker in the community - be aware of escalation process for concerns, Proven good record of attendance and time keeping
- Ability to work flexibly to meet needs of the service
