Full Job Description
As a Highway Authority, Leicestershire County Council has a statutory responsibility to manage its highway (network) in an effective manner, to control and reduce congestion and provide a high level of safe and reliable journeys to the road user. The Network Management Service, within the Council's Highways & Transport Operations division, takes an active role in the implementation of the Council's Local Transport Plan with a primary focus on the Management, Coordination, and Inspection of Temporary Road and Street Works as well as Events which affect the Highway, which is a statutory responsibility for network management. The Network Coordinator role makes an essential contribution to the delivery of The Council's statutory responsibility under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and achieves this by leading on the coordination of temporary road and street work activities on Leicestershire's Highway Network under the governance of all relevant regulations, statutory guidance, and codes of practice. As the nature of the work may involve the jobholder carrying out work outside of normal working hours at different locations than their designated base, including site visits and representing LCC at meetings and events, you need the ability to travel to locations across the County as required., We are keen to support employees to balance their working life with other commitments. To apply for this post, you must have:
- An HNC Civil Engineering or a similar subject, or evidence of skills and experience in the Job Specification.
- Experience working in highway maintenance, civil engineering, or street lighting.
- Resolving enquiries in real time and feeding back to customers and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of using ICT systems and business processes to support the efficient delivery of services and relevant technical guidance and standards.
- Knowledge of current and relevant legislation, policies and procedures; Highways Act, NRSWA, Traffic Management Act & Traffic Regulation Act.
- Clear organisational and communication skills, and analytical and creative thinking skills. The ability to work to tight timescales and agreed targets.
- A customer-focused approach where the customer experience is central to the delivery of the service. The ability to connect with communities and localities through listening, dialogue and understanding community needs and you can build positive relationships across stakeholders, peers and partners, creating open and transparent relationships based on trust. You can take ownership and understand customer requirements, close out concerns and ensure resolution and feedback.
