Full Job Description

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is at the heart of energy in the UK. In NGET we are passionate about both operating our network safely and providing highly reliable quality of supply for our customers. As Network Development Transformation Manager (within our Network Development team), you will drive forwards a diverse portfolio of engineering, technology and capability transformation activities that evolve the way that we plan and develop our electricity transmission network. Setting Transformation strategy, you'll make a direct contribution to setting the future state of Network Development in NGET and across the industry. You'll be involved with programmes which include:

  • Rolling out the next generation of power system analysis tools (increasing automation and integration with standard data sources),
  • Progressing our ongoing activities to Attract, Develop and Retain skills in the department.
  • Control and update our process and procedures to secure the smooth transformation of our team.
  • Secure the future talent of the team, overseeing the higher apprentice and graduate program of Network Development.
  • You'll work with key stakeholders across NGET to exact high-profile and meaningful change to our engineering assessments, processes, digital tools, data and its methods of collection, analysis, and outputs visualisation. You'll be based out of our offices in Warwick, and this can be combined with hybrid working from home.

With experience of managing highly complex, multi- dimensional projects and programmes, you'll have the ability to set and control clear scopes of technical work that lead to clearly defined strategic and business outcomes. You'll need a sound understanding of the NGET business, its processes, network design and investment plans, coupled with the ability to understand detailed technical subjects and infer their impacts on transformation plans, delivery, risks and mitigations. An understanding of the transmission network and power system analysis would be advantageous. You'll have experience of managing diverse teams to deliver valuable outputs and a track record of working proactively and autonomously under your own initiative, thinking beyond convention in the conveyance and delivery of new and innovative solutions. Agile, with the ability to embrace and drive change, you'll have experience of building and sustaining stakeholder relationships and be able to present detailed technical information in a way understandable to non-technical audiences. You'll be educated to degree level or equivalent in a STEM subject and have membership of a relevant professional body e.g. IET. A full driving license is also required.

At National Grid, we work towards the highest standards in everything we do, including how we support, value and develop our people. Our aim is to encourage and support employees to thrive and be the best they can be. We celebrate the difference people can bring into our organisation, and welcome and encourage applicants with diverse experiences and backgrounds, and offer flexible and tailored support, at home and in the office.

  • A competitive salary of £63,000 - £79,000.
  • Annual Performance Based Bonus of up to 15%
  • 28 days annual leave plus eight statutory days.
  • Option to buy/sell holiday days.
  • Generous contributory pension scheme - we'll double-match your contribution to a max company contribution of 12%.
  • Flexible benefits: share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes.
  • Family benefits like back-up care service (six paid days yearly + option to purchase more).
