Full Job Description

The purpose of this role is to manage and transform BT's Global Reach Platforms (design, develop, test, deliver and support) as well as leading on and the transformation of design, development, network delivery and platform management of the aligned platform services. This role is a programme function in the development of new technology and change to an embedded agile, devops engineering culture - enabling sustainable, profitable growth and maintenance of networks that support the diverse business needs of not just Enterprise but the wider BT portfolio., The purpose of the Global Reach Platform Manager role is to look after the platform development / evolution and in-life performance of specific platform(s) including vendor engagement / support. Specifically this role is accountable for:

  • Driving business performance, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Managing stakeholders to enable network design and delivery.
  • Virtual/Matrix management of multidiscipline team(s) of Level 1 to 3 consisting typically network designers,network delivery, network testers, network ops & professionals with multiple disciplines supporting the platform.
  • Deliver Platform transformation on behalf of BT's Line of Businesses
  • Leadership accountabilities
  • Budget and cost management working with our vendors and finance teams.
  • Matrix team management across BT business units
  • Lead complex delivery programmes.
  • Influence at senior levels strategic and Business decisions to do the right thing for BT and its customers.
  • Conduct myself with pride, honesty and integrity in line with the BT Values.
  • I will actively give and receive feedback on my performance.
  • Key decisions
  • Driving network service / performance levels
  • Platform strategy direction and approval
  • Ensuring platform security control and management.
  • Technical direction/ implementation specific to platform evolution.
  • Vendor engagement driving operational excellence
  • Resolution of platform wide issues (engaging with key stakeholders as appropriate)
  • Cost and return on investment working with procurement teams
  • Implementation of platform roadmap (specifically driving network upgrades to address EoSL issues and capacity demands)

    Accomplished and experienced leadership skills
  • Expert knowledge of the communications industry and relevant emerging network/software technologies.
  • Experience and proven ability to delivery large-scale transformational technology programmes.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in IT/Telecommunications in technical or product delivery.
  • Architectural and operational understanding in the Internet/VPN arena.
