Full Job Description

Technology Services is a function within the Joint ICT Department of Hampshire Constabulary and Thames Valley Police. We are responsible for keeping the blue lights on and delivering innovative solutions to ensure Police Officers and staff can access key services that allow us to stay online, connected and ahead of the game. We are looking for dynamic technologists to help support our next generation infrastructure environment.

You will play a key role in supporting our business-as-usual initiative responsible for resolving technical issues, assist with lifecycle management of existing solutions and carry out routine housekeeping and maintenance checks to maximise system availability. You will apply functional knowledge and technical support to our various network offerings and contribute towards innovative solutions to our customers.

> Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills to investigate, diagnose, and rectify issues relating to services in an enterprise environment.

> Effective written and oral communication skills, customer focused, who is a flexible, adaptable, problem solver and able to work systematically within a team and with little direct supervision.

> Able to interpret, design and challenge complex designs, and have strong communication skills including experience in communicating complex technical information to different target audiences.

> Must have capability to travel to different locations across both Forces and undertake all assignments in a timely manner. Due to the requirement to work flexibly, unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working; public transport may not be available or suitable at these times. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered essential

> Ability to produce high quality technical documentation including;

> Standard operating procedures

> Knowledge base articles

> Detailed troubleshooting documentation

> A subject matter expert and having worked with one or more of the following technologies/areas;

  • Avaya System/Session Manager

  • Avaya Communication Manager (V10)

  • Avaya CS1k

  • Avaya Aura Contact Centre (AACC)

  • Redbox Recording Solutions


  • Desirable technical skills:

    > Practical experience working with third parties (ISP's or vendors) to manage a corporate network and voice infrastructure.

    > Experience in managing wireless networks across a large campus or estate.

    > Cisco IOS

    Vetting. All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
