Work with us! We are a friendly and progressive, specialist Neuro ICU with 18 beds. Neuro ICU is part of a close-knit Adult Critical Care directorate and is situated in a modern purpose-built wing of St George's Hospital in southwest London. We are proud to be a Major Trauma Centre, Stroke Centre and Regional Neuroscience Centre.
In Neuro ICU, we specialize in the care of patients following acquired or traumatic injury to the head and/or spine, along with those suffering from complex neurosurgical and neuromedical disorders.
Our team is diverse and inclusive and we develop staff of all levels to reach their potential, offering opportunities for rotation to other ICU areas, secondment to research and outreach teams and support with management & leadership as well as training and further specialist education., We are looking for a professional and enthusiastic colleague to be part of our NICU Practice Education Team, part-time. The experienced and motivated Adult Critical Care Practice Education Team work together to provide Foundations of Critical Care Nursing education and support, training in transfers & polytrauma, co-ordination of rotation and mandatory training and support for the ICU course modules. We also offer local development of experienced staff and specialist study days. We are proud to retain clinical currency and credibility by continuing to work clinically in the numbers as well as teach.
This post will be 50% Practice Education and 50% Clinical for part time and full-time applicants. The practice education element is flexible up to 9.5hr days, the clinical component is internal rotation.

St George's is a leading NHS Trust and teaching hospital with a strong research culture, part of GESH group (George's, Epsom & St Helier) and one of London's three designated Major Trauma Centres. We operate in a large Critical Care Directorate with three adult Intensive Care Units on the same site: Neuroscience, Cardiothoracic and General as well as a Critical Care Outreach Team. Although run as separate units, all work collaboratively across the Critical Care Directorate sharing expertise and innovations.
We encourage and support all aspects of professional development on the unit, including research, audit, study and quality improvement work. New staff enjoy a period of supernumerary practice during which time they can establish themselves in their new role.
