The post holder will work alongside the existing NF Specialist Adviser and work closely with the Consultant Clinical Geneticists specialising in these conditions.
The post will be based at Birmingham Women's Hospital but appointments will take place in a combination of clinic venues, schools and patients' homes and flexibility to travel to these will be a vital part of the role.
We have an exciting opportunity for a part time Neurofibromatosis Specialist Adviser. We are looking for a caring specialist nurse, physiotherapist or occupational therapist with experience of working with neurofibromatosis type 1 and type 2, to work with individuals affected by these conditions in the West Midlands. The role is focused on providing support, information and advice for individuals and families with (or at risk of) neurofibromatosis. This will include appointments with children and adults both in the community and in specialist multidisciplinary clinics.
The post holder will work alongside the existing NF Specialist Adviser and work closely with the Consultant Clinical Geneticists specialising in these conditions. The post will be based at Birmingham Women's Hospital but appointments will take place in a combination of clinic venues, schools and patients' homes and flexibility to travel to these will be a vital part of the role.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with
neurofibromatosis, knowledge of the genetic basis of the conditions and experience of working with families. Counselling training and/or experience would be an advantage. Access to a car insured for business use and a full driving license are essential as travel is an important part of the role.
