Based at Glan Clwyd Hospital, you will work as part of a team participating in the hearing screening of newborn babies. You will undertake the full range of newborn hearing screening duties both in a hospital and community setting., Public Health Wales is the National Public Health Institute in Wales. Applicants are invited to apply in Welsh, any application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application made in English. To support our all Wales service, we particularly welcome applications from Welsh speakers., Duties include communicating with the parents throughout the process, baby handling, use of screening equipment and accurately recording clinical and test data relevant to the screening process, therefore good communication skills and experience of using a computer are essential. You must be a confident and reliable individual and possess the ability to work well under pressure.
Although the base site will be at Glan Clwyd Hospital, you will also be required to work at Wrexham Maelor Hospital and Ysbyty Gwynedd on a rota basis and to run clinics in the community. Therefore the successful candidate will need the ability to regularly travel between and work at other sites within the Region as needed.
The post is for 32 hours per week. The ability to work additional hours as needed is desirable. You will be required to work full time during the initial training period.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
To work in the UK, all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland (RoI) nationals require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care visa or Skilled Worker visa, unless you have permission to work via another route. The salary scale shown is for a full-time member of staff, with the amount being adjusted pro rata for those working less than 37.5 hours per week.
In general, anyone joining our Trust who has not previously worked in the NHS will, by default, start on the first point of the advertised pay band. Pay progression will then be determined by annual Performance and Development Reviews in accordance with the NHS Wales Pay Progression Policy. An application for Incremental Credit may be considered, but can only be awarded based on evidenced, reckonable service and/or equivalent, relevant experience.
