Job Description: Newly Qualified Practice NurseJob Summary: We are looking for a Newly Qualified Practice Nurse to join our supportive team at The Bay Medical Practice. As part of your role, you will provide essential nursing care within a primary care setting, focusing on patient assessments, wound care, health monitoring, and immunisations. You will work under the guidance of experienced nurses and GPs as you grow in your role, and we will fully support your professional development through our induction and training programmes, including the Introduction to General Practice Nursing course.Key Responsibilities: As a newly qualified nurse with limited experience, you will be gradually introduced to the core responsibilities of the role, which will include: Wound Care and Dressings: Assist patients with routine wound management and dressing changes under supervision. Ensure correct documentation of wound assessments and treatment plans. Drug Injections and Vaccinations: Administer
routine injections and vaccinations, such as flu shots and childhood immunisations, with support from senior nursing staff. Ensure vaccine safety and follow-up, adhering to clinical guidelines. Blood Pressure Monitoring (BP): Perform blood pressure checks and basic cardiovascular monitoring as part of regular patient reviews. Document findings accurately in patient records. ECG Monitoring: Perform basic ECG tests as needed, under supervision, to support patient diagnosis and monitoring. Health Promotion and Education: Support patient education around lifestyle choices such as diet, exercise, smoking cessation, and overall health. Promote preventative care through health promotion initiatives.Training and Professional Development: As part of your role, you will receive full support to attend the Introduction to General Practice Nursing course. This will build your knowledge and skills in areas like: Chronic disease management Minor illness and injury care Managing long-term conditions You

will also be provided with mentorship and structured induction to help you develop into your role with confidence.Key Skills and Competencies: Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with patients and the multidisciplinary team. Teamwork: Able to work collaboratively in a team, seeking support from colleagues as needed. Attention to Detail: Accurate documentation of patient care, treatment, and findings. Willingness to Learn: Eagerness to develop new skills and adapt to the responsibilities of a practice nurse. Patient-Centred Care: Committed to providing compassionate and empathetic care for all patients.Qualifications: Newly qualified nurse with NMC registration or a student nurse due to join the NMC register within the next 6 months. Some placement or voluntary experience in a healthcare setting (desirable but not essential).
