Full Job Description
We are seeking newly qualified GPs who have not held substantive posts to work in PCNs across the London Borough of Hillingdon on a fixed term contract., This is a position for newly qualified GPs (within 2 years of CCT date & not having held a substantive postbefore) towork in PCNs within Hillingdon on a fixed term contract until Thepost-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needsin a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for allregistered and temporary patients. This post may require you to travel between differentpractices within a PCN in the borough of Hillingdon as and when required andwill require you to be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) andhold a certificate of completion of training within two years.,
- In accordance with the PCN / Practice timetable, asagreed, the post-holder will make him / her-self available to undertake a varietyof duties including surgery consultations, telephone / video consultations andqueries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptionsand dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions inrelation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from otherhealth care workers within the practice or external organisations.
- Assessing the health needs of patients withundifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors andearly signs of illness.
- Contributing to QOF requirements and recordingdata appropriately.
- Contributing to PCN requirements and recordingdata appropriately.
- In consultation with patients and in line withcurrent practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health-relatedillnesses.
- Screening patients for health education.
- Admitting and discharging patients to and from thecaseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultationnotes to agreed standards.
- Collecting data for audit purposes andcontributing to the practice audit programme as required.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute andrepeat prescriptions using ESP (avoiding physical or hand-written prescriptionswhenever possible).
- Prescribing in accordance with the acceptedprescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- Take responsibility for some aspects of theclinical work within the team, for example coordinating aspects of governance,QOF, enhanced services, CPD and keeping clinical protocols up to date.
- In general, the post holder will be expected toundertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GPworking within primary care, as set by Royal College of General Practitioners,General Medical council, all other Royal colleges and councils applicable tothe staff within the practice, Department of Health, Clinical CommissioningGroups and all other regulatory and standard setting organisations.
Essential - Experience of working within the NHS, with general public & team working
- Well developed IT skills and an enthusiasm for new applications and software
- Good time management and highly organised
- Ability to use initiative, judgement, resourcefulness, common sense and local knowledge
- Interest in quality improvement work
- Able to obtain and analyse complex technical information
- Recognises priorities when problem solving and identifies deviations from the normal pattern and is able to refer to seniors when appropriate
- Able to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Produce timely and informative reports
- Gain acceptance for Recommendations and influence / motivate / persuade the audience to comply with the recommendations / agreed course action where there may be significant barriers.

- Eligible to work in UK
- Newly qualified GP (no more than 2 years qualified) with no previous substantive post
- Able to carry out duties with or without premises adaptation
- GMC registration
- Other postgraduate qualifications (Minor Surgery, Education, Family planning etc), Self-Motivation
- Adaptable
- Full Driving Licence
- Immunisation status - Hep B / MMR
