Full Job Description

Global English News Editor, The position requires an experienced news editor who will largely focus on planning and publishing content that specifically addresses the needs of UK healthcare professionals. The editor will be tasked with producing news and commissioning expert columns. The editor will be charged with staying on top of the latest healthcare policy news and news relating to professional societies and bodies in the UK. They will also work closely with our marketing partners.
Global English News Editor Responsibilities:
Ensure high editorial standards are maintained for all content published on Medscape UK and Medscape.com
Develop topics for news coverage that are aligned with editorial strategy
Manage freelance writers and copyeditors
Commission articles from freelance writers and edit as needed
Supervise UK clinical summary production
Supervise UK translation production
Work within approved news budget
Fill in for and collaborate with the English market lead and other global editors as needed
Collaborate with the marketing team and other departments as needed on global English market campaigns

Medscape is seeking a global English news editor to be part of the global editorial team. This position will support our English Editorial Market Lead with news production geared toward healthcare professionals, mainly in the UK but also in Europe, across the two English-language Medscape Professional Network websites (medscape.co.uk and medscape.com). The candidate must be based in the UK., Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience in medical or science journalism
Previous demonstrable editing experience
Experience covering medical/scientific conferences and academic studies for a specialised audience is preferred
Native English speaker
Familiarity with the UK healthcare system, government, and culture
Comfortable with working in a fast-paced media organisation
