Full Job Description

We are looking for an outstanding, digitally minded content editor to lead our news and daily advice content across Money. You will work with a team of topic-specialist editors, writers and researchers to devise and implement a strategy to deliver daily content across news, advice, newsletters and other channels. You will be the owner of the editorial calendar and ensure we publish the best news related content at the right time, and ensure the right people inside the organisation know about it. Key responsibilities include: We're looking for someone who is adept at monitoring audience engagement with digital content and consumer finance trends and pouring those insights into running a tight daily content strategy that serves key digital channels. You will collaborate with our team of experienced editors, writers and expert researchers to decide which news and advice articles should be published or updated and when, and continuously dig into performance figures and external trends to continually improve our delivery. You will also ensure our overall news output is consistent with the goals of the Which? Daily content strategy, working with the Daily content editor and other stakeholders and topic owners within Money, Travel and Consumer Rights to help align our overall approach. Responsibilities

  • Manage daily flow of news and relevant advice content and co-ordinating editors and writers.
  • Stay on top of and discover news, trends, and performance data to identify what stories and themes we need to be covering across personal finance
  • Identify and prioritise ideas based on newsworthiness, analytics, audience interest or onward journeys.
  • Create content plans around major events and themes
  • Work with writers to assess and feedback on pitches, and ensure pitches and commissions are aligned with our news goals
  • Collaborate with the wider digital, editorial, channels and magazine teams to strategise around news follow-up features or content updates.
  • Develop and share the forward daily content calendar and insights on content performance regularly with the wider Content Department and key stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Work with editors across the organisation to share best practice and ensure a consistent approach to the delivery of Which?'s overall news output.
  • About you:
  • You have an established experience as an editor, and/or content manager in personal finance
  • You can identify the most interesting and newsworthy details of a story.
  • You understand how to write for different audiences and can optimise your pieces for search and organic discovery.
  • You can oversee copy-reading procedures and editing/publishing finalised copy, ensuring compliance with policies, style and tone.
  • You are able to make quick and confident editorial decisions on what to run in an ever-changing environment
  • Your can oversee and develop news content created by junior writers
  • You can provide daily publishing updates to social, homepage and newsletter teams, to ensure adequate promotion of web content
  • You can align with internal stakeholders - including video, social media, commercial, marketing and internal communications teams - on distribution and promotion of content.

    This role offers a competitive salary, hybrid working, 28 days holiday a year plus Bank Holidays and a fantastic pension scheme offering 6% in year one and 11% after this.
