  • Provide input to weekly MDT meetings.
  • Conduct medical reviews for patients under the service.
  • Provide supervision for Specialty Doctor and other junior colleagues in the service.

  • EPUT is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate NHS Locum Consultant Psychiatrist in Old Age to join and providemedical leadership for the Intensive Support Team (IST) based at St Margaret's Hospital in Epping, West Essex. The Intensive Support Team provides an alternative to hospital admission for people over the age of 75 years in West Essex presenting with mental health problems or for people of any age who have a diagnosis of dementia. The West Essex area comprises of the districts of Harlow, Epping Forest and Uttlesford. The team will support the patient in their own home including care homes for a period of up to 6 weeks. They will screen all referrals for all mental health inpatient admissions and support early discharges from wards. The trust is actively supportive of newly qualified consultants continuing professional development seeking to deepen and broaden their skills.As well as making a clinical difference, we believe that your development is key so you will be supported to enable you to pursue educational and research interests which go hand in hand to provide a high quality of care and safety to our patients. We have excellent links with the medical school at ARU and other educational establishments where we have shared appointments in teaching and research. You must have full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register, with an appropriate CCT or equivalent or be within six months of obtaining your CCT on the date of the AAC.
