Full Job Description

  • A bar with a pub feeling with an open fire and tables serving food.

  • A dining room with 40 covers serving very high quality food.

  • A generous garden and courtyard with an outdoor bar.

  • 10 bedrooms finished to a high spec.

  • A private dining room for 12 people.

  • A treatment room.

  • A shop selling local produce and coffee.

  • A children's playground.

  • The Great Bustard is dog friendly.

  • And includes an Estate Centre for private events, special celebrations or corporate off-sites, with a large dining and drawing room area, plus a chef's kitchen.


  • Night Porter/ Cleaning duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • To be flexible in the role and be willing to work night shifts

  • Hours are 11pm to 7am

  • Managing the Beds and Bars booking system, ensuring all office/financial administration is accurate.

  • Full cleaning duties in the adjoining pub during the night. Approximately 2 hours per shift.

  • Answering emails and issuing door codes as required and responding to reviews so you need to be confident using a computer and learning new software.

  • Keep up with patrols around the building which comprises of 10 ensuite rooms.

  • Being around for guests who have any difficulties.

  • Carrying out and recording various health & safety checks throughout your shift.

  • Keeping the reception, corridors and hotel entrance clean and tidy at all times.

  • Keeping a record of any issues that arise and any maintenance problems and liaise with relevant staff to fix the issues raised.

  • Being able to produce a clear and concise handover document for the other receptionist coming on duty after you.

  • Receiving and checking after hours deliveries as and when required.

  • Being vigilant with guest safety at all times.

    The Great Bustard is a boutique hotel part of the Great Durnford Estate, where the the Great Bustards, once close to extinction, were re-introduced. These magnificent creatures, one of the world's heaviest flying birds, therefore have a close connection with the area and the estate in particular.
