Full Job Description

Your role as overall manager of the service will be to lead and inspire the delivery and continued development of R29. You will be supported by your management team of two deputies and portfolio leads. One deputy leads on residential and one deputy leads on outreach.

You must hold a final level professional qualification, i.e. CQSW, CSS, DIPSW or Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent. You will be the Registered Manager of the hub and need to maintain registration with Ofsted. You will demonstrate extensive experience of working with vulnerable adolescents who have complex needs and present with high risks. You will have significant experience as a manager and leader. You will also be equipped to lead change, maintain partnerships, influence and inspire teams. You will demonstrate our values of Pride, Passion, People and Personal Responsibility to give young people the stability, skills and support to manage their transition to adulthood and independence successfully.

Salford is a thriving cultural, economic and residential location, well known as a channel for academic and business talent. Children get a great start at a wide range of schools, further education colleges and the award-winning University of Salford. The waterfront development at MediaCity UK makes Salford a major centre of UK media production.

We want children growing up in Salford to see and say that their city, community, and services are great and this has been recognised in our most recent Ofsted report which rates our continued overall services as 'good'. This means that 'children have continued to receive focused, timely and proportionate support in response to their needs and level of risk. Multi-agency arrangements for children are effective and these lead to a good range of interventions that keep children safe' (Ofsted 2018)

Route 29 is Salford City Council's No Wrong Door model, providing a robust and asset-based intervention to young people aged 12 17 years who are on the edge of care, in care or at risk of placement instability. Now in its third year of operation, the model is being developed to work with children aged from 8 years as our intelligence is telling us there is an emerging need.

Whilst the model is 80% outreach, with support available from a range of dedicated specialist practitioners who are all part of the team, accommodation and respite can be provided through the registered children's home, bespoke short break accommodation, supported accommodation flats and community foster carers., Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £38.00. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months' salary payments at a rate of £9.50 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £38.00.

If you have lived or worked abroad for 3 months or more in the last 5 years or 12 months or more (whether continuously or in total) in the last 10 years whilst aged 18 or over, please refer to the link below for details for how to obtain your Certificates of Good Character. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/criminal-records-checks-for-overseas-applicants
