Full Job Description

In this role, you will directly advise and support the Ombudsman as a member of the Board and one of its committees. You will contribute to organisational leadership and performance monitoring and provide constructive challenge, scrutiny and feedback on PHSO’s work. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, passionate team dedicated to influencing positive change in public services.
Our work often leads to wider improvements across public services and influences how organisations operate and how people experience them. We have taken significant strides forward in resolving challenging cases, producing influential policy reports that are taken seriously by Parliament. We have a strong voice and we have reported on a range of issues, from the impact of Windrush, to HS2, to State Pension age communications.

Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check.
People working with government assets must complete baseline personnel security standard (opens in new window) checks.

About us
We make final decisions on complaints that have not been resolved by the NHS in England and UK Government departments and other UK public organisations. We work hard to challenge injustice and inequality. We are independent and fair to make sure organisations are held accountable and that individual wrongs are corrected.

You will be required to download and complete the ‘equal opportunities monitoring questionnaire’ and the ‘applicant declaration form’. The information you provide will be treated as confidential and used for statistical purposes only. The form will not be treated as part of your application.
