Full Job Description

As a Non-Executive Director will be expected to participate in the Board's activities for approximately 4 days a month. Duties and responsibilities attached to this role will be:

  • To work with the Board on the strategic and annual plans of the Trust to ensure that the health needs of the population served by the Trust are fully considered
  • Ensuring that the Trust establishes clear objectives to deliver the agreed plans and meet the terms of its licence and to regularly review performance against these objectives
  • Consult and work with the Council of Governors on the performance of the Board and to ensure that the health needs of the population served by the Trust are being met
  • Ensure the best use of financial resources to maximise benefits for patients and effective financial control arrangements are developed across the Trust to secure high levels of probity and value for money
  • Lead or participate in committees of the Board of Directors, as well as Council of Governors meetings with specific activities to support the delivery of services.
  • Support and challenge where appropriate, the Chairman, Chief Executive and other Directors of the Trust Board to ensure the Board conforms to the highest standards of corporate and quality governance and makes appropriate decisions
  • Represent the Trust's views with national, regional or local bodies or individuals, to ensure that the views of a wide range of stakeholders are considered.

    North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust is searching for a Non-Executive Director to become a member of the Board, and provide guidance, governance and leadership to the Trust as it aims to implement its strategies for delivering effective and high-quality healthcare services.

You will act as the Trust's ambassador upholding the highest standards of integrity and honesty. You will foster good relationships and instil public, patient, and NHS staff confidence.
