The Tackling Child Sexual Abuse Unit (TCSAU), which sits within the Tackling Exploitation and Abuse Directorate in PSG, is responsible for leading the Government's response to child sexual abuse, with a remit that cuts across serious and organised crime, law enforcement, national security, and social policy. The work of the unit is high-profile, and it is a supportive, empowering, and collaborative unit to work in. The work of this team spans:

  • Oversight and governance relating to strategic cross-government activities and our whole of system response to tackle child sexual abuse, including the final recommendations of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.

  • Policy development, briefings, and stakeholder engagement on supporting practice and early intervention and prevention policy work.
  • Sponsorship of the independent Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse.
  • The role holder will be placed in a role, to be confirmed based on business need at the time of appointment, working to an experienced Grade 7, to drive forward one of the above specific policy areas that supports the UK's domestic strategic approach to a range of key issues on tackling child sexual abuse. The role will give the post holder the opportunity to experience the work of implementing a top government policy priority, working in a sensitive and often fast-paced environment to deliver across government and through and with external stakeholders. Responsibilities:
  • Lead on key deliverables, including drafting briefings, international statements and attending regular international meetings with counterparts and international organisations.
  • Providing advice to ministers and working across government to engage and develop and deliver on key priorities.
  • Maintaining core briefs and press lines, ensuring they are up to date across the unit, and responding to correspondence and requests for contributions for speeches, briefings, international statements, and other documents relating to work within the policy area.
  • Engaging with international and domestic stakeholders through multiple forums and representing UK government interests at various events. This may include some international travel, with possible overnight stays, however full notice will be provided. The cost associated with any travel will be met by the business area in line with HO policy.
  • Potential line management responsibilities, It may be a requirement of the role to undertake remote line management, depending on the location of the successful candidate and the location of staff under their line management.
  • Please note that this list of responsibilities is not exhaustive, and the post holder will need to be flexible in light of changing ministerial priorities.
