Full Job Description
The NPD Food Product Developer will be a leader in new product innovation and successfully develop, execute and project manage it within the organisation. You will independently research, design, conduct experiments, gather data, develop preliminary findings and prepare written reports to drive in new/improved products, cost savings and unique technologies. Working individually or in collaboration with others you will work through project barriers and recommend solutions. You will have the opportunity to lead and direct the work of other scientists to achieve their primary responsibility of formulating new products, opportunities to mentor NPD Research Scientist, R&D Interns and Industrial Placement Students. Supporting the development of pilot plant processes, systems, and technologies by keeping informed of new and existing equipment, approaches and techniques; designing experiments; preparing products for testing; evaluating test results; and providing conclusions or next steps.
- Hands-on experience of analytical and physical testing methodologies within food industry, such as moisture, colour, rheology, and spectroscopy.
- Experience in formulation and product development from the bench to scale up.
- Lab development/kitchen development experience.
- Ability to communicate and present project updates and risks to R&D leadership
- BSc. or MSc. in Food Science or related technology/engineering field is essential.
- Preferred Systems knowledge - Genesis or Compusense Sensory or SAP PLM
- Experience of working cross functionally with various teams through project meetings by providing technical direction and identifying solutions.
