Full Job Description

Surveyors are responsible for conducting quality inspection of ships in service to determine their conformity with specified requirements (BV rules, International Maritime Organisations, National Regulations, Standards IACS Requirements, etc). The Applicant is expected to :

  • Conduct classification and statutory surveys of ships-in-service according to the applicable rules and regulations.
  • Conduct ISM / ISPS audits and MLC Inspections
  • Carry out surveys, draw up and send relevant reports to the SSQM, in compliance with BV's procedures,
  • Assess the conditions necessary for carrying out surveys to the expected quality level, against their own abilities, availability and the conditions on board, working in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure the quality of their services and ensure that their KPI's are met, and reports completed to the expected standard.
  • Attend all Mandatory training sessions and complete all assigned tasks.
  • Provide information and support necessary to any internal or external stakeholders.
  • Keep up to date with new rules, regulations and technical information or process disseminated through internal communication
  • The role will, at times, involve time away from home, and sometimes surveys at the weekend.

    Full Driving License
  • NS Qualifications covering at a minimum Basic Ship Types, and preferable with Oil & Chemical Tanker and Bulk Carrier Qualifications.
  • Preferably Qualified and experienced ISM & ISPS Auditor and MLC Inspector
  • Able to travel
