Full Job Description
The NSA Technical Lead (will be part of the Engineering and Technical function within the Civil Work Program organisation and will be responsible for leadership of the delivery of Programme Engineering (NI, CI/BOP, Civils, Site) on behalf of the Client, this includes:
- Act as the client Technical Lead for the main Responsible Designer engineering contract, the NSA, within the Technical Directorate
- Support the wider SZC project with respect to the NSA by acting as the Subject Matter Expert for the technical content of the contract and overseeing implementation of the contract within the Contractor and Employer technical teams providing advice and guidance as required
- Advise other project stakeholders regarding the NSA and where appropriate making decisions regarding the implementation of the contract within the project
- Own and be accountable for all technical documentation within the NSA e.g. specifications, replication processes, engineering sequences etc as well as ensuring they are being applied appropriately by contract stakeholders
- Act as the entry point for all technical Project Work Requests in order to understand the scope of each change/variation and to ensure informed engineering decision making takes place by balancing the needs of the technical teams requesting changes/variations against the wider needs of the project
- Monitor the technical delivery expected from the NSA Contractor with a specific focus on process and transverse deliverables
- Act as the technical SME with respect to the wider multi-disciplinary NSA contract team on pre and post Financial Close aspects of the NSA Contract, contractual appendices, technical specifications, and the procurement process
- Deliver training to the project teams as required to ensure all project members understand the technical elements of the contract at a level appropriate to their needs
- Build and maintain strong links with the delivery teams, designer teams and technical teams project managers and engineers responsible for delivering equivalent scope at Hinkley Point C to ensure replication and best practice
- Involvement in coordinating multi-disciplinary design/procurement work and driving design/procurement teams to deliver on time
Background in mechanical, electrical, process, systems or civil engineering for large industrial plants - Good understanding of the complexity of major projects, including interface management between scope areas
- Excellent communication skills in client-facing and contractor-facing situations
- General professional qualities such as accuracy, tenacity, result-oriented and teamwork-oriented attitude, diplomacy
- Previous engineering or project management experience in the nuclear industry
- An understanding of engineering principles within EPR projects with a detail overview of the EPR project design would be appreciated
- Understanding of the commercial aspects of major project delivery would be beneficial
- Experience of the pre-tender and tender stages of procuring contracts for the design, manufacturing and/or installation of industrial equipment
- Association with an Engineering and/or Project Management Institute
- Internal and external relationship & stakeholder management
