Join our Nuclear Analysis Industrial Placement to spend 12 months gaining valuable experience in the Nuclear Industry. Put your Physics and Maths skills to good use helping the Nuclear Analysis team explore and develop modern water reactor physics modelling and fault analysis capabilities, using industrial tools and methods. If you want to further develop your analytical and problem-solving skills in an industrial context, working alongside enthusiastic and technically-minded people who contribute daily to the safe operation of the UK's civil nuclear reactor fleet, then a paid 12-month Industrial Placement - based at our offices in Gloucester, UK - could be for you!

To join our team, you will be on track to achieve or will have already achieved a 2:2 undergraduate degree or 2:2 postgraduate qualification in Maths or Physics. Technical and analytical skills & a real desire to learn and develop new skills.

Training, development, and support for you As a Nuclear Analysis Industrial Placement, you will focus on the research, development, theory, approximations, validation and use of the current reactor analysis codes and methods used for all EDF reactor cores. With support from experienced colleagues, you could:

  • Understand current analysis methods and their limitations.
  • Support the further development of current and new methods to provide safety or operational benefits to the power stations.
  • Use their analysis skills to provide inputs into engineering advice on reactor analysis issues to support station operation, safety cases and the resolution of regulatory issues, as required.
  • Work as part of highly specialised team, building on each other's strengths to achieve high quality outcomes.
