Full Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine Radiographer/ Technologist post is required to provide the highest quality clinical care whilst performing routine Nuclear Medicine procedures and investigations. As part of the position, the post holder will be involved in performing a wide range of diagnostic procedures on patients of all ages, who are suffering from a wide range of illnesses including cancer, requiring empathy and skills to help patients through difficult and complex procedures. The post holder will be required to perform all investigations according to technical protocols described in the standard operating procedures using highly specialised equipment with a value in excess of half a million pounds per unit. Complex procedures are to be undertaken with the cooperation of senior team members. The post holder will be required to participate in the routine quality assurance programme within the department and ensure a safe working environment in accordance with local rules for radiation protection and Health and Safety.   • Perform routine Nuclear Medicine procedures under indirect supervision, in a timely and accurate manner with due regard to the Health and Safety of self, staff and patients. To be able to operate most hardware and software used in the department.
  • To take responsibility for patient consent, identification and relevant clinical history taking prior to commencement of the procedure in accordance with Trust and professional legislation
  • Ensure that all standard operating procedures, protocols and guidelines are adhered to.
  • Provide clear instructions to staff, patients and relatives as necessary.
  • Optimally use all supporting and immobilisation devices on patients to achieve diagnostically accurate studies.
  • To ensure that all images are of the highest diagnostic quality possible and that they are presented for reporting in timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in routine Quality Assurance of all relevant equipment and take responsibility for reporting discrepancies to appropriate personnel., Including but not limited to:
  • + To ensure that the department delivers a high-quality patient experience + To ensure the safety of all patients, staff and visitors to the department + To liaise with the other modalities within the department to ensure that room utilisation is maximised and to prioritise patients to ensure optimum efficiency and service quality between different areas within the department + To ensure that the images produced are of the highest possible quality as befits a department with an international reputation and to lead by example + To ensure all data inputs are accurately recorded in order to maintain integrity of data for both patients and service + To ensure that a high personal level of professional practice is maintained and extended though participation in Professional Development + To participate in departmental and division activities such as Health and Safety, Audit, Research, Clinical Governance and investigation of adverse incidents and complaints + To rotate through PET/CT, SPECT/CT, DEXA and PET/MRI + To participate in the 7-day week and extended day as required., Please note that all correspondence regarding your application will be via email.
