Full Job Description

Initially, this role will consist of training to perform a broad range of supervised duties and responsibilities within Nuclear Medicine, ensuring a high level of imaging quality for patients seen within the department. You will work closely with senior technologists during the training period and liaise with other healthcare professionals within and outside the department.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate they can cope with the highly technical side of Nuclear Medicine involving the equipment and techniques employed as well as being a caring and friendly, patient focused member of the team.

Once trained, you will aid in protocol development and implementation, routine quality control and carry out the various imaging examinations performed by the department including SPECT-CT imaging.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking and talented person to join our Nuclear Medicine team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). This is an exciting opportunity for a radiography or science degree graduate starting out on their career in healthcare to join us in a training capacity.

You will join our friendly, collaborative and multidisciplinary team, providing a service to referrers from across the region. The role demands experience of independent working, an understanding of anatomy, physiology, physics and maths, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to interact with a range of disciplines. You should have an awareness and aptitude for excellent patient focused care.

This is a training post; you will be expected to develop skills and knowledge under the supervision of senior Radiographers and Technologists. You will be allocated a mentor to support you throughout the training period. Candidates will be expected to attend Salford University to earn a Post Graduate Diploma in Nuclear Medicine and subsequently gain and maintain HCPC or RCT registration as part of their employment with the trust.

This is a link graded development post (band 5 to band 6). Consideration will be given in light of previous experience and training. This may allow for the candidate to start working at the higher band.
