Full Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Associate (General Practice) Reports to: Nurse Team Lead Job Summary: The Registered Nurse Associate will support the general practice team by providing a range of nursing services to patients. They will work under the supervision of registered nurses and other healthcare professionals, contributing to the delivery of high quality, patient centred care. Key Responsibilities: Patient Care: Assist in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Administer medications, immunisations and treatments as prescribed. Provide wound care and dressing changes. Conduct health screenings and assist in chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension). Perform phlebotomy and collect other specimens for testing. Administer injections immunisations as appropriate. Perform and maintain skills in smear taking and patient education. Health Education and Promotion: Educate patients on managing their health conditions and promoting healthy
lifestyles. Provide advice on disease prevention and health maintenance. Support patients in managing their medication and treatment plans. Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records. Assist in the coordination of patient referrals and follow up appointments. Participate in practice meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with practice policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with GPs, practice nurses, healthcare assistants, and other practice staff. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions. Provide support and guidance to healthcare assistants and other junior staff. Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development and keep up-to-date with current nursing practice. Attend training sessions and workshops as required. Contribute to the training and mentoring of nursing students and new staff. Skills and Qualifications

Education: Nurse Associate Qualification. Active and unrestricted NMC registration. Experience: Previous experience in a general practice or similar healthcare setting is preferred. Skills: Strong clinical and assessment skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team and independently. Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems. Compassionate and patient-focused approach. Working Conditions: The position may require working across JHP sites. The role involves direct patient contact and may require handling of biohazard materials. The nurse associate must adhere to strict confidentiality and privacy standards.
