The post holder is responsible for the implementation of care needs and the implementation of programmes of care., + To implement family centred care without direct supervision that is evidence based by best practice as directed by the qualified nurse.
+ To participate in professional development programmes, attend mandatory training days and keeping updated with new research findings, PDP's, role expansion and NMC revalidation.
+ To maintain high standards of care and promote an environment suitable for the care of children and young people.
+ To always maintain the role of a nurse associate, addressing care requirements sensitive to the individual needs of the patient and family as directed by the qualified nurse.
+ Maintaining patient records and confidentiality.
+ Ensure the privacy and dignity of patients and their families is maintained and religious and cultural beliefs are always respected.
+ Promote and maintain a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
+ To contribute to and participate in clinical audit and research programmes.
+ To participate in area/departmental improvements/ projects.
+ Participate in audits, questionnaire development and focus groups that help to engage parents and carers and improve the quality of care provided.
+ To provide up to date information for families in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary professional team and directed by the qualified nurse.
+ To undertake liaison with other staff and outside agencies to ensure continuity of care as directed by the qualified nurse.
+ Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, both detailed and legible.
+ Always ensure patient and family confidentiality in line with NMC guidelines.
+ To participate in an effective communication system, which ensures that a team approach to family centred care is encouraged and adopted.
+ Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with Trust guidelines.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust for an enthusiastic, motivated and highly dynamic qualified Nursing Associate to join the Outpatient Department.
The outpatients staff work collaboratively with wider multi disciplinary teams to deliver outstanding care to our patients and their families, therefore experience of working collaboratively in a team within a healthcare environment is essential for this post. Outpatients is often the first impression of our hospital and therefore excellent communication skills are also required for this position to ensure patients and their families / carers are welcomed and reassured.
Experience of working with children or in an Outpatient setting is desirable, but not essential and applicants must be keen to expand their skills and willing to undertake paediatric phlebotomy. The successful applicant will be given full training and mentoring within the department.
As part of the nursing team, you will also be actively involved in supporting the professional development of Health Care Support Workers and health care students across the department.
Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care and has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients' homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man.
