Full Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit a Nurse Practitioner to join The Havens dedicated multi professional team for 12 months to cover maternity leave.

This post is open to female applicants only in order to preserve privacy and dignity as covered by the Equality Act 2010 Part 1, schedule 9.

The Havens are London's Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) based in Camberwell, Paddington/Ladbroke Grove and Whitechapel. The service is jointly commissioned by London Mayor's Office for Policing & Crime (MOPAC ) and National Health Service England (NHSE).

The Havens are a 24/7 service providing care to people disclosing rape or sexual assault. Care may include forensic medical examination, acute / follow-up medical care and support through counselling, psychology, and Independent Sexual Violence Advisors.

You will need to have:

o Current NMC Registered Nurse (adult, mental health) or Midwifeo experience in sexual or women's health.o excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and knowledge of the impact of sexual assault.

You will be joining a service that promotes and supports personal and professional development. Training and competency assessment of forensic work will be provided.

A genuine commitment to working with our client group is critical. This will involve some out of hours / on call work.

Main duties of the job

To support and maintain a 'Centre of Excellence' , providing emotional support and care for women , children and men following a serious sexual assault. This includes the offer of forensic medical examination, addressing contraceptive and sexual health needs and emotional support.

To support the senior sisters with the delivery of a seamless and robust forensic medical examination service.

To participate in developing and implementing strategies to support evidence based interventions.

To provide telephone support and guidance to people who have been sexually assaulted

To work clinically as a crisis worker during forensic medical examinations and when clients attend for sexual health aftercare clinics

To assist with the development and monitoring of clinical practice, protocols and care pathways within the service
