Full Job Description
The Nursery Manager will play a key role in leading the delivery of high-quality early years education, specifically supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or disabilities, including those with social communication and interaction challenges. This position offers an exciting opportunity to drive positive change in a dynamic and inclusive environment, ensuring every child's needs are met with care, respect, and creativity. Key Relationships: Internal:
- Lead and support colleagues, including senior practitioners, practitioners, and sessional workers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture
- Supervise and mentor volunteers to ensure a welcoming, professional environment for all
- Work closely with the administration team, Kids Senior Management Team, and national teams to maintain a cohesive approach to early years education External:
- Build strong, positive relationships with parents/carers, ensuring open and empathetic communication
- Collaborate with partner organisations, health professionals, educational services, and social care providers to provide comprehensive support for children and families, Oversee the daily operations of Wylde Green Family Centre Nursery, ensuring a vibrant, inclusive environment for all children
- Lead and prepare for OFSTED inspections, ensuring compliance with relevant standards
- Promote the nursery's values and services to prospective parents and professionals, highlighting our inclusive approach
- Ensure individualised planning, observations, and assessments that support each child's development and learning journey
- Support the SENCO in implementing Early Support Plans, the Graduated Approach, and EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans)
- Foster collaboration with multi-agency teams to ensure holistic support for children and families
- Deliver services that adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and organisational policies to ensure a safe and supportive environment
- Ensure compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and other regulatory standards
- Be mindful of cultural and religious sensitivities while addressing the diverse support needs of children and families
- Encourage and support the development of volunteers and team members, promoting a culture of inclusivity
- Manage health and safety compliance, ensuring risk assessments are completed and followed
- Build strong relationships with local partner organisations and agencies to enhance service provision
- Lead data collection, monitoring, and reporting to ensure continuous improvement
- Manage the nursery's service budget, ensuring financial sustainability
- Recruit, train, and develop colleagues to ensure the team is diverse, empowered, and motivated
- Safeguard sensitive data, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations
- Collaborate with the Service Manager and Fundraiser to secure funding opportunities and enhance the nursery's offerings
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated with best practices in early years education and inclusion
- Adhere to Kids' and Birmingham Safeguarding Children's Board policies and procedures Safeguarding and Child Protection:
- Uphold and implement Kids' policies on child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality
- Regularly assess and review safeguarding procedures, ensuring all children's health, well-being, and safety needs are met
- Respond promptly and appropriately to any safeguarding concerns or risks, maintaining a vigilant and supportive approach Confidentiality and Other Responsibilities:
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work, ensuring the privacy of children, families, and colleagues
- Work collaboratively across the organisation, helping ensure alignment with national priorities and standards
A minimum of 3 years' experience working with children and families with disabilities, particularly those with complex social communication and sensory processing needs - At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or management role, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and develop a diverse team
- Experience managing child protection and safeguarding procedures
- Familiarity with OFSTED inspections and standards
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Knowledge of issues facing disabled children and their families
- Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), Safeguarding, Child Protection, Equal Opportunities, and Health and Safety frameworks
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
