Nursery Room Leader - If you are a dedicated and skilled individual with a passion for excellence, we invite you to join our team at the United States Air Force, 422nd Air Base Squadron, RAF Croughton. We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience in developmental care and instruction of young children, for the Child Development Center (CDC). They will oversee the supervision of a designated classroom for ages 6 months through 5 years whenever the Child Development Center (CDC) Director is not physically in the facility. Why RAF Croughton: Located in the heart of Northamptonshire, RAF Croughton is home to the 422nd Air Base Squadron. This base is pivotal in maintaining international security and fostering strong alliances between the US and UK. Our team is dedicated to excellence, innovation, and the highest standards of operational readiness., You will be responsible for designing, implementing and reviewing activity plans. You will observe and evaluate each child's health and development, and report on and maintain records of observations. You will prepare and implement specialized programs for children with special needs, (i.e., children with disciplinary problems, learning disabilities, or gifted children) and provide technical guidance and leadership to junior employees assigned to assist with program activities and you will participate in special projects. Your hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week on an as rostered schedule (this will be working any 5 days out of 7) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies. You will be required to observe US holidays in lieu of UK holidays. You must pass a pre-employment physical examination and keep current on all required immunizations, including annual influenza. Work requires walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting/carrying children and moderate physical exertion. You may be required to rearrange furniture and will lift or carry children weighing up to 40 pounds. You must be at least 18 years of age, with a high school diploma (or UK equivalent). This position has been identified as having "regular contact with children". The position requires a Defense Barring Service (CRB) clearance. Food handler's certificate will be required, with training provided.

You will need to possess knowledge and experience of child development regulations, procedures, and processes and experience using, early child development theory, methodology, and practices relating to physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. You will have knowledge of, or ability to become knowledgeable of, child development center regulations, programs and operations. You will have the ability to develop creative and innovative activity and special program plans and to promote and foster effective working relationships with other and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. In addition, you will be able to ensure the safety and hygiene of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, and proper management of equipment.,

  • You must have a 4-year course above the high school in early childhood studies,
  • or
  • Two years of specialized experience in early childhood and either a CACHE/NNEB diploma
  • in Nursery, Btec National in childhood studies, NVQ 3 in childcare, or a Child Development Associate credential, advanced NNEB/CACHE in Childcare and Education.
  • You must complete 24 hours of annual training, which includes Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • (CPR), First Aid, rescue breathing, and food handling (as applicable). Certificates must be submitted for your application to be valid. Other significant facts about the role: You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. Training plans will be established and monitored by the supervisor and may specify the length of time the employee has to obtain certification. Training may be conducted during evening and weekend hours. All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
