Full Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Registered Nursing Associate to join our dynamic and forward thinking integrated 0-19 service. The post holder will work as part of the wider health visiting and school nursing teams addressing health inequalities and meeting public health priorities within the Newcastle city area. Our 0-19 Service values and takes pride in our skill mix of practitioners that work with families to promote optimum health so that children and young people reach their full potential. This role sits within the School Health Team which works with families, children and young people to support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme. This role will need you to be a good team player but also work independently as your skills develop. We are looking for people with great social and communication skills, who are non-judgmental and sensitive to the needs of our young people and families, keeping them foremost and advocating for them when needed. Specialist training and induction will be provided to all successful candidates. NO AGENCIES PLEASE, Under the supervision of the Band 6 SCPHN with other School Health workers, Nursing Associates and Staff Nurses the successful candidate will work primarily in schools, community hubs and within homes, to provide public health advice and interventions to children, young people and their families. This role will require or develop: · You to have a high level of social and communication skills in order to work across multi professional agencies and also to engage with young people. · You will need effective listening skills to successfully be able to have a positive impact on their public health and wellbeing outcomes. · You will motivate, challenge and champion health promotion opportunities at every opportunity adopting a Making Every Contact Count approach during all interactions with young people or families. · An ability to work holistically and advocate for the needs of young people and their families but also identify if a family require more than early intervention support in order to recognise and support safeguarding concerns. · You will be able to work as part of a team and able to work independently with direction · You will also support the registered nurse in the assessment, planning and evaluation of packages of support for families. · You will be providing public health education to individuals, groups or classes of children, young people or parent/carers/ teachers in line with PHSE guidance.Working for our organisation Our staff oversee over 6,500 patient contacts every day, delivering high standards of healthcare from the following sites:
