Nutrition Assistant - SEU

The post-holder will have the unique opportunity to work across professional boundaries as a member of the Surgical Emergency Unit and Nutrition and Dietetic teams. A Band 4 Nutrition Assistant will work autonomously, guided by Therapists, to ensure provision of excellent Dietetic care. The role involves supporting Nurses, Dietitians and other Healthcare Professionals in the identification of Malnutrition and provision of timely nutritional interventions. The Dietetics and Surgical Emergency Unit departments are committed to developing quality services for patients. We offer regular supervision, in-service training and actively promote the personal development of all our team. Within this role, there will also be the opportunity to develop the wider team's knowledge of nutrition and partake in exciting projects designed to ensure provision of high-quality Dietetic care., The post holder will work across professional boundaries as a member of the Surgical Emergency Unit (SEU) and Nutrition and Dietetic teams at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Key components of the role will include:

• Supporting Surgical Dietitians, Nurses and other Healthcare Professionals in the delivery of excellent Nutrition-related care by undertaking a range of delegated and self-directed activities, including Malnutrition Screening and implementing Nutrition Care Plans.
• Managing a designated caseload, evaluating patient's progress and modifying interventions with supervision from clinicians.
• Communicating nutrition-related information with patients, relatives, Dietitians and the wider Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
• Organising, developing and executing activities designed to improve the MDT's knowledge and completion of nutritional screening and Dietetic care plans.
• Working with a diverse team of Dietitians, Therapy Assistants and SEU Nurses and Care Support Workers within SEU Triage, SEU D, SEU E and SEU F.
